Cassino leaders call for increased security and nighttime patrols

Local political leaders and community associations in Cassino are calling for increased security measures following repeated instances of street violence and brawls in the city center.

Antonio Maraone of Lega Cassino emphasized the need for constant prevention rather than reactive interventions, supporting the potential inclusion of the city in the ‘Strade Sicure’ initiative to provide additional support to police and Carabinieri. He also noted the importance of the mayor's announcement regarding new local police officers and the implementation of nighttime shifts to monitor commercial areas and nightlife zones.

Maria Vittoria Andreotti, president of Associazione Futura, echoed these concerns, stating that recent aggression and clashes between groups of youths have created a significant perception of insecurity among residents. While acknowledging the arrival of new local police agents in October as a positive step, Andreotti argued that more must be done, including continuous patrols in high-risk areas and the potential, legal use of the military to support urban security efforts.
