Cassino police investigate death of Iranian student
Police in Cassino are investigating the death of Fatemeh Khoshyom, a 30-year-old Iranian student at the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio. Her body was discovered in her apartment in Piazza Diamare by her husband, an Iranian engineer, on the afternoon of September 21.
Investigators have noted several details that have led them to look beyond the initial hypothesis of suicide. These include marks on the victim's neck and the position of a foulard found on the floor rather than around her neck. The apartment was found closed from the inside with no signs of forced entry, and no stools or chairs were present that would typically facilitate a hanging.
The Prosecutor's Office of Cassino has opened a file, currently considering the hypothesis of incitement to suicide, while the Mobile Squad and forensic specialists have placed the residence under seizure to preserve the scene. Medical examinations and an autopsy are expected to provide further clarity on the cause of death.
