Seventeen municipalities of the Castelli Romani area voted unanimously at the Assembly of Mayors on 30 July to submit a joint dossier for the Italian Capital of Culture 2029, marking the first time the whole consortium has pursued the title together. The initiative is backed by the Metropolitan City of Rome and highlighted by consortium president Giuseppe De Righi and library director Giacomo Tortorici.

Other cultural milestones across Italy were highlighted in the same period. Cassino’s Historiale museum marked its 21st anniversary, emphasizing peace and resilience after World War II, with mayor Enzo Salera praising its role in education. In Sarteano, regional culture assessor Cristina Manetti toured local heritage sites, including the famed Quadriga Infernale Etruscan tomb, underscoring the region’s “diffused culture” strategy.

Tourism officials in Agrigento urged that the legacy of the 2025 Culture Capital be turned into lasting economic growth, while Giovanni Parisi reported that Italy’s cultural and creative sectors now generate about €17 billion, employ over 283 000 people, and that Campania alone contributes €5.8 billion and 87 000 jobs. Parallel community programmes such as Sanremo’s “Agosto nei parchi” and a free Avion Travel concert at the Roman theatre of Carsulae illustrate the broad push to link cultural heritage with public engagement and regional development.
