Cassper Nyovest faces backlash over Rick Ross condemnation

South African rapper Cassper Nyovest is facing public criticism following his condemnation of American rapper Rick Ross. On 27 September 2026, Nyovest stated on X that Ross had lost him as a fan after Jazzma Kendrick accused Ross of domestic violence, asserting that there is “never a good reason to put hands on a woman.”

Social media users in South Africa have responded by accusing Nyovest of “selective activism,” pointing to his previous public support for Chris Brown despite Brown’s documented history of assault allegations.

In a related development, Rick Ross was formally arrested in Florida on 1 October on charges of battery and strangulation. An arrest affidavit alleges that the incident involving Kendrick occurred on 28 August, during which Ross reportedly struck her in the chest multiple times.
