Cast of 'Dat Phuong Nam' reflect on lives three decades later

Nearly 30 years after the 1997 television series 'Dat Phuong Nam' aired, the lives of its lead actors have taken diverse paths. The series, directed by Nguyen Vinh Son and adapted from Doan Gioi's novel, remains one of Vietnam's most successful literary adaptations.

Hung Thuan, who played the iconic role of An, struggled to maintain momentum in the entertainment industry after his initial success. Finding acting to be financially unstable, he transitioned into real estate brokerage and eventually opened his own company in 2021. Following a period of personal challenges, including a divorce, he is set to marry his partner of 10 years in July 2025.

Phung Ngoc, who portrayed the character Co, also remains a memorable figure from the production, though the cast members have largely moved away from the spotlight to pursue different livelihoods.
