Cast of RYUJI Ryuji reveals behind-the-scenes details

The cast of the upcoming film ‘RYUJI Ryuji’, starring Yuya Yagira, has released a special talk video detailing the production process. The film is a modern reimagining of the 1983 classic ‘Ryuji’, set in the Shinjuku Kabukicho district between 1984 and 1990.

Key production details shared by the seven-member cast include the intensive character preparation required for the roles. Yuya Yagira noted that his character's tattoo makeup took approximately four hours to apply. Additionally, actors Riku Hagiwara and JUNON (from BE:FIRST) underwent specialized training to perform as baccarat dealers for the film's casino scenes.

The film's costume design, led by Isao Tsuge, followed the theme of ‘Yakuza's Hare and Ke’ (formal and informal). The cast discussed how specific wardrobe choices, such as Yagira's white coat and JUNON's white suit, were used to convey character development and symbolism within the narrative.
