Cast of Shadow Work film attends completion screening

The cast and director of the upcoming survival suspense film ‘Shadow Work’ attended a completion screening at TOHO Cinemas Hibiya on August 20. Based on the novel by Hiromi Sano and directed by Ryuhei Yoshino, the film explores the lives of women seeking refuge in a shelter known as ‘Ouchi’ to escape domestic violence.

Lead actresses Riho Yoshioka and Nao discussed their roles, which follow two women—Noriko and Kaoru—whose paths eventually intersect. Yoshioka described the film as a mix of suspenseful elements and a warm atmosphere, while Nao highlighted the complexity of playing a detective struggling with her own sense of justice and personal trauma. Other cast members, including Emi Satsuki, shared insights into their character preparations and the film's themes of survival and hidden truths.

‘Shadow Work’ is scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release in Japan on September 25.
