Castanheira de Pera secures 2.8 million euro loan for investments

The municipality of Castanheira de Pera will take out a loan of approximately 2.8 million euros to fund various local investments. According to Mayor António Henriques, a portion of these funds will be used for the acquisition of real estate to continue the rehabilitation of buildings along the Pera stream, converting them into modern spaces for businesses.

The loan also covers two projects to requalify the area surrounding Praia das Rocas, aiming to improve accessibility and increase green spaces within the complex. Additionally, the municipality is managing the Retorta Business Area, an 8.5 million euro investment, where the local government must cover a 15% national component that significantly impacts the municipal treasury.

Henriques noted that the municipality currently has no debt, having paid off its last financial rebalancing installment last year. He described the new medium- and long-term loan as a strategic move to advance works quickly, stating the total amount remains well below the municipality's debt limit.
