Castanyada traditions and weather forecasts in Spain

As the Castanyada season approaches, vendors are preparing for the traditional chestnut festivities. Sellers, such as Jesús Feixet, report that the arrival of colder weather typically boosts sales, with expectations to sell between 150 and 300 kilograms of chestnuts. The supply includes early varieties from Extremadura, followed by harvests from northern regions including Galicia and Portugal.

Regarding weather conditions, meteorological models suggest a return to more traditional temperatures for the holiday weekend. While the beginning of the week may see a warm spike during midday, a drop in temperatures is expected by the time of the Castanyada. Forecasts indicate a cool or chilly atmosphere at night, with minimum temperatures dropping below 10°C in many coastal and inland areas, and potential light frosts in the Pyrenees.
