Castel di Lama celebrates 100th birthday of Fernando Manilardi

The municipality of Castel di Lama celebrated the 100th birthday of Fernando Manilardi on September 26. Born in 1926, Manilardi has a long history of public service and personal achievement.

During World War II, Manilardi was taken hostage by German forces. Later, as a Marshal of the Air Force, he was awarded the title of Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic in 1980. His local political contributions include serving as Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Sport.

Manilardi is also recognized for his cultural contributions, including his passion for music and theater, and his appearance on the television program ‘C’è posta per te’ in 2000. He has compiled an extensive collection of local newspapers and magazines documenting the history of Castel di Lama, which he has made available to the community.
