Castelfranco di Sotto faces urban planning paralysis as structural plan stalls

The opposition group Castelfranco Unita – comprising members of the PD, AVS, PSI and Azione – says the municipal administration of Castelfranco di Sotto has failed to finalise the Intermunicipal Structural Plan adopted in April 2024, despite a six‑month extension granted in November. The group claims the mayor’s response was evasive and warns that the town entered an “urban safeguard regime” at the end of May, which halts the issuance of new building permits.

According to the opposition, the blockade prevents modest projects such as adding a pool to a hospitality facility, expanding private homes beyond 20 % of existing size, or enlarging industrial premises. The stoppage also means the municipality receives no urbanisation fees, threatening funds for schools, social services, road maintenance and investment, and could push the plan’s effective date well beyond early 2027.
