Castelfranco Veneto supermarket: beer bottles explode at checkout

A sudden incident occurred at a supermarket in Castelfranco Veneto on Sunday, August 16, when three 66cl bottles of Moretti beer exploded at a checkout counter. The explosion, described by witnesses as sounding like a sequence of firecrackers, sent glass shards and foam flying near customers in line.

No injuries were reported, though the event caused significant panic among shoppers. Witnesses noted that the sudden noise caused people to recoil instinctively. Potential causes for such incidents include micro-fractures in the glass from handling, over-carbonation due to bottling defects, or thermal shock caused by rapid temperature changes.
