Castell de Vila-seca to host Caribbean-Catalan art exhibition

The collective art exhibition ‘Confluències entre el Carib i Catalunya’ (Confluences between the Caribbean and Catalonia) will open at the Castell de Vila-seca on September 4. The exhibition, which runs until October 4 in the Sala Kies, features a selection of paintings and sculptures by artists from the Dominican Republic and Catalonia.

Organized by the Vila-seca City Council in collaboration with the Diputació de Tarragona, the Consulate General of the Dominican Republic in Barcelona, and the Institute of Dominicans and Dominicanas Abroad (INDEX), the project aims to strengthen ties between the two communities through contemporary art. Themes of the exhibition include the sea, migration, nature preservation, and shared traditions, fostering a visual dialogue between Caribbean and Mediterranean cultural influences.

The project originated in 2019 and has previously traveled to cities including Santo Domingo, Barcelona, Madrid, Tarragona, Cambrils, and Salou. Participating Dominican artists include Iris Pérez Romero, Willy Pérez, and Judith Mora, while Catalan artists include Laura Álvarez Keller, Vicky Roldán, and Queralt Osorio.
