Castelló d'Empúries hosts sixth edition of 'Un llibre, un destí' reading project

More than 300 readers from approximately 20 reading clubs gathered at the Basilica of Santa Maria in Castelló d'Empúries for the sixth edition of the 'Un llibre, un destí' project. This initiative, promoted by the Library Service of the Diputació de Girona, is inspired by the Anglo-Saxon 'One city, one book' model and aims to link literary works with specific territories.

This year's event focused on the novel 'Les closes' by Maria Àngels Anglada, a prominent voice in contemporary Catalan literature with strong ties to the Empordà region. The program included insights from Hellenist and researcher Eusebi Ayensa and scholar Anna Perera, who discussed the literary and cultural significance of Anglada's work. The event was attended by the author's daughters, Rosa and Mariona Geli Anglada, as well as local officials.

The session concluded with a musical performance by singer-songwriter Josep Tero, who maintained a close personal and artistic relationship with the author. This marks the first time the itinerant project has been hosted in the Alt Empordà region, following previous editions in Caldes de Malavella, Camprodon, Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Olot, and Girona.
