Castelló authorities deploy aerial mosquito control after heavy rains

Authorities in the province of Castelló, Spain, have intensified mosquito surveillance and control measures following heavy rainfall. In some areas, precipitation exceeded 200 liters per square meter, leading to flooded marshlands and making certain locations inaccessible by land.

In the municipality of Torreblanca, the local government and the Diputación de Castelló have deployed helicopters to conduct aerial treatments in hard-to-reach flooded zones. These operations aim to interrupt the biological cycle of mosquito larvae. To minimize environmental impact, technicians are utilizing Bacillus thuringiensis, a biological larvicide that targets insects during their early development stages while remaining safe for local fauna.
