Castellammare del Golfo: Man dies of sudden illness on beach
A 79-year-old man, Pedro Benenati, died after suffering a sudden illness at Playa beach in Castellammare del Golfo, Sicily.
Bystanders, including two nurses present on the beach, attempted to resuscitate him using a defibrillator from the Peter Pan lido. Emergency responders, including 118 medical operators, municipal police, and the coast guard, arrived to coordinate rescue efforts. Despite these immediate interventions, the man could not be saved.
Witnesses reported that the death appeared to be due to natural causes. Benenati, who lived in Argentina, returned to Sicily every summer to visit relatives in Alcamo and frequently visited the beach.
