Castellammare di Stabia police investigate fetal death

Police in Castellammare di Stabia have opened an investigation following a formal complaint by a couple from Boscoreale regarding the death of their unborn daughter. The woman, 36, was in her fortieth week of pregnancy when she ceased feeling fetal movement.

The parents allege that medical staff failed to provide necessary diagnostic follow-ups. According to the complaint, the couple had requested an ultrasound in late July and again in late August following some spotting, but the requests were reportedly denied by the gynecologist, who deemed them unnecessary.

Clinical records show the woman underwent cardiotocographic monitoring on September 3 and September 10, both of which reportedly showed no anomalies. However, after seeking emergency care on September 9, medical assessments confirmed the fetus had died. The investigation aims to clarify medical responsibilities and reconstruct the events leading to the death.
