Castellammare: Man jailed for abusing disabled mother

A 50-year-old man from Castellammare di Stabia has been imprisoned following an investigation into the abuse of his 70-year-old disabled mother. According to the Prosecutor's Office, the man is accused of aggravated domestic abuse and attempted aggravated extortion.

Investigators report that the suspect subjected his mother to daily verbal abuse and physical and psychological violence, creating a climate of fear that prevented her from leaving the house. The investigation, which began in August, also suggests the man threatened his brother to obtain money. Authorities noted that the suspect's behavior was fueled by drug addiction.
