Castellaneta motorcycle accident involving wild boar leaves two seriously injured
Two men from Castellaneta were seriously injured following a nighttime road accident where a motorcycle collided with a large wild boar. One victim is in critical condition at San Pio Hospital in Castellaneta, while the other is in a coma at the Santissima Annunziata hospital in Taranto.
In response to the incident, the agricultural organization CIA Due Mari Taranto-Brindisi expressed deep concern and indignation. President Giannicola D’Amico called for urgent legislative changes and the implementation of containment plans for wild boars and wolves, which have been causing significant damage to agriculture in Puglia.
Vito Rubino, director of the Due Mari area, criticized bureaucratic delays and ideological opposition from environmental and animal rights groups, stating that these obstacles have paralyzed necessary interventions and left the territory overrun by wildlife, endangering public safety.
