Castellón approves 2027 Magdalena pyrotechnic competition

The Castellón Festival Board has unanimously approved the regulations for the 2027 Magdalena Pyrotechnic-Mascleta Competition. This event is a central component of the city's foundational festivities.

Seven pyrotechnic companies will participate, performing daily displays between March 1 and March 7, 2027, at 14:00. The total budget for the competition is 72,500 euros. Of this amount, 66,500 euros will be distributed among the seven participating companies, with each receiving 9,500 euros (including VAT) for their performance.

The remaining 6,000 euros will be awarded as prizes to the top three finishers: 3,000 euros for first place, 2,000 euros for second, and 1,000 euros for third. The winner of the first prize will also receive a trophy and an invitation from the Municipal Festival Board to provide the opening mascleta for the 2028 Magdalena festivities. Additionally, non-monetary awards will be given for the best 'terremoto terrestre' and 'terremoto aéreo'.
