Castellón begins waste recycling project in Parque Ribalta

The Castellón City Council has launched a new phase of maintenance for Parque Ribalta, focusing on the sustainable reuse of urban waste. The Environment Department is spreading wood mulch, derived from tree pruning throughout the city, to serve as a natural ground cover. This initiative covers an initial 672 square meters near the park's obelisk and will continue progressively throughout the coming year as more organic material becomes available.

This natural covering is designed to conserve soil moisture, limit weed growth, and protect the ground from erosion. As the material decomposes, it will provide organic matter to improve soil biological activity and tree health.

In addition to the mulch application, the municipality recently completed a comprehensive cleaning and painting of the park's pond to improve water clarity while protecting aquatic life. The local government also plans to invest an additional 200,000 euros before the end of the year to improve urban furniture within the park and will tender the 'La Pèrgola' project by year-end.
