Castellón citrus market sees price rises amid low production forecasts

In the province of Castellón, the citrus sector is seeing increased buying activity for the Clemenules variety. This shift follows a forecast from the Conselleria de Agricultura indicating that production for the 2026/2027 season will reach its lowest volume in two decades. Consequently, reference prices at the Lonja de Cítricos have risen slightly, with Clemenules trading between 0.46 and 0.52 euros per kilogram.

In Alcanar, the local government has announced the second edition of Expocítric, a citrus-focused fair scheduled for November 14 and 15, 2026. The event, which follows a successful inaugural edition that drew 6,300 visitors, will feature agro-food companies, local producers, and artisans. The fair will be preceded by specialized technical sessions on November 11 and 12 to discuss the current state and future of the citrus industry.
