Castellón integrates nine new firefighters into municipal service

The Castellón City Council has integrated nine new firefighters into the operational shifts of the municipal Prevention, Fire Extinction, and Rescue Service (SPEIS). These new members are currently in a training period, familiarizing themselves with facilities, internal organization, and operational protocols alongside existing staff.

While already participating in daily duties, the recruits must still complete a mandatory course at the Valencian Institute of Public Safety and Emergencies (IVASPE) before they can officially take possession of their positions.

The expansion of the workforce follows a decision by the local administration to increase the number of vacancies from an initial three to eleven. Currently, nine positions are filled by these trainees, while two remaining vacancies are expected to be filled in the near future. Antonio Ortolá, the Councilor for Security and Emergencies, stated that this reinforcement is a significant step toward improving essential services for the city.
