Castellón Provincial Council approves 40 million euros for local municipalities

The Diputación de Castellón has approved a series of measures to allocate more than 40 million euros to municipalities within the province. A significant portion of this includes 2.34 million euros dedicated to combating depopulation in 91 municipalities. This funding, matched by the Generalitat Valenciana, aims to improve public services and encourage population stability in areas at risk due to low density and aging populations.

Other approved initiatives include the ‘Més Esport’ plan, which provides 12.11 million euros for the construction and improvement of sports facilities across 135 municipalities. Additionally, the institution is launching the ‘Bono DipuComerç’ initiative, with a budget of approximately 2 million euros for 2027, intended to stimulate local commerce and support small businesses and the self-employed.

In a separate development, the President of the Diputación, Marta Barrachina, and the Rector of Universitat Jaume I, Jesús Lancis, met to reaffirm their collaboration. The partnership focuses on strengthening education, research, and innovation to support local talent and the economic fabric of the Castellón region.
