Castellón residents receive waste tax reductions for recycling
Approximately 29,000 taxpayers in Castellón will receive reductions in their urban solid waste collection and treatment tax due to the use of the local Ecoparque and mobile Ecoparques. This represents nearly 40% of the eligible population.
Juan Carlos Redondo, the Councilor for Economy and Finance, reported that more than 25,000 residents achieved the maximum 50% reduction. This total amount of tax relief is estimated at approximately 2.6 million euros. The reduction percentages are based on the frequency of visits: residents who visited the facilities seven or more times received a 50% discount, while those with three to six visits received a 30% discount.
The local government, led by Mayor Begoña Carrasco, implemented these incentives to mitigate the impact of state-mandated waste taxes by rewarding citizens who recycle more frequently.
