Castello di Lombardia wins In/Architettura 2026 Sicilia award

The Castello di Lombardia in Enna has been awarded the In/Architettura 2026 Sicilia prize for its redevelopment project. The award recognizes the revitalization of the surrounding areas, specifically Viale Nino Savarese and Piazza delle Rimembranze, which aims to enhance the cultural and touristic value of the historic site.

The In/Architettura 2026 awards in Sicily featured 96 candidates, highlighting contemporary architecture, environmental sustainability, and the impact of PNRR-related design competitions. During the ceremony held in Catania, Mariagrazia Leonardi, president of IN/ARCH Sicilia, emphasized the importance of collaboration between designers, clients, and contractors. She also called for the restoration of the Sicilian Region's DARC to better support the protection and promotion of quality contemporary architecture.

Antonietta Iolanda Lima received the Career Award for her lifelong contributions to architecture as a field of culture and social responsibility. The regional awards serve as a precursor to the national architecture awards, scheduled to take place in Venice on November 13.
