Castelmur fortified site to host guided tours by Italian Castle Institute

The Istituto Italiano dei Castelli - Sezione Lombardia is organizing guided tours of the fortified site in Castelmur, located in Bregaglia Valley, Switzerland. This marks the first time the Lombardy section of the institute will conduct tours across a national border into a Swiss site.

Castelmur, historically known as 'Murus' in the Antonine Itinerary, served as a Roman road station. The site features 13th-century fortifications attributed to the Bishop of Coira, including a large tower and a wall extending to the Maira/Mera river. The tours will focus on the reading of fortified structures, their relationship to the settlement, and the local parish church.
