Castelnuovo di Campli residents demand action on delayed safety works

Residents of Castelnuovo di Campli, represented by the citizen committee ‘Castelnuovo nel cuore’, are expressing growing frustration over the prolonged delay in safety and consolidation works for their village. Despite funding being allocated by the Special Office for Reconstruction over eight years ago, the project remains in a state of administrative stalemate.

The delay has left several families displaced from their homes, with no clear timeline for their return. While Mayor Federico Agostinelli previously suggested a July 2026 start date, residents report that these projections have not materialized. The project entered a period of significant uncertainty in August 2024 following the removal of the project manager, Engineer Elisabetta Natali, from her role within the Campli municipal technical offices.

The committee is demanding transparency regarding the current status of the design process and a definitive schedule for the commencement of construction to address the structural vulnerabilities of the historic center.
