Castelnuovo di Garfagnana: Elderly man assaulted during pension robbery

An 81-year-old man was assaulted in the center of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana during an attempted robbery. The victim had just withdrawn his pension near the local post office when the attack occurred.

Passersby heard screams and intervened, allowing the victim to free himself and causing the assailant to flee. The Carabinieri from the Castelnuovo station and the operational unit successfully apprehended the suspect following a brief pursuit.

Local representatives from the Fratelli d'Italia party condemned the incident as “vile” and called for necessary measures to punish the perpetrator and ensure the safety of vulnerable citizens, including the elderly and children.
