Castelo Branco municipality allocates €607,500 to local football and futsal clubs

On 31 July, the municipal council of Castelo Branco approved €607,500 in support for football and futsal clubs for the 2026/27 season, under the municipality’s sports‑association regulation. The funds were allocated as follows: Sport Benfica e Castelo Branco €220,000 (maximum for clubs in the Campeonato de Portugal), Clube Desportivo de Alcains €90,000 (maximum for district league clubs), Desportivo de Castelo Branco €55,000, Associação Recreativa e Cultural do Bairro do Valongo €55,000, Associação Recreativa do Bairro da Boa Esperança €100,000 (2nd‑division futsal), Associação Desportiva e Recreativa de Retaxo €80,000 (3rd‑division futsal) and Núcleo Sporting Clube de Portugal de Castelo Branco €7,500 (capped at 75% of the annual budget). Leopoldo Rodrigues, president of the Câmara de Castelo Branco, confirmed the allocation.

Separately, Vitória Sport Clube signed a two‑season partnership with the social organization Mais Polvoreira – Solidariedade, Educação e Empreendedorismo Social. The agreement grants Vitória SC’s women’s youth teams access to the Parque Desportivo da Valinha for training and matches. The protocol was signed by Vitória SC vice‑president Silvério Alves and Mais Polvoreira president Carlos Oliveira, highlighting a joint effort to develop women’s football in Guimarães and the possibility of extending the facility’s use to the men’s teams in the future.
