Castelserás seeks 1.8 million euros to open stalled elderly residence

The municipality of Castelserás requires 1.8 million euros to open a municipal elderly residence that has remained stalled for 12 years. The project, which has been delayed since the completion of the building's roof, is intended to provide 22 residential places and 10 day-care spots, along with services such as a hair salon and massage room.

Mayor Santiago Anglés noted that the original plan for tutored housing has become obsolete, leading the town to pivot toward a residential center model. Currently, local families must transport elderly relatives to neighboring towns like Calanda, Alcorisa, La Zaida, or Alcañiz. The mayor has called upon the Government of Aragon for funding to complete the project and intends to tender the management of the facility to a private company.

Alejandro Nolasco, Vice President of the Government of Aragon, visited the site and committed to providing the necessary support to finalize the project, describing it as an unfinished initiative from previous administrations.
