Castiglione della Pescaia enhances cultural inclusion and tourism management
Castiglione della Pescaia is advancing its cultural and tourism initiatives through community events and enhanced accessibility programs. The municipality has renewed its agreement with the Tuscan Museums System for Alzheimer’s (Sistema Mta) through 2029. This partnership aims to make local sites, such as the MuVet Archaeological Museum and the Museo della Casa Rossa Ximenes, more inclusive for individuals living with dementia and their caregivers.
In addition to social inclusion, the region continues to manage significant tourism growth. Mayor Elena Nappi noted that the municipality sees over 1.5 million annual visitors, making it one of Tuscany’s top destinations. To manage this, the town focuses on sustainability and environmental protection, maintaining its 27-year streak of receiving the Blue Flag and 5 Sails awards.
Local cultural programming for late September includes the “Festa contadina” in Tirli, celebrating traditional agriculture and cuisine, as well as guided nature excursions at the Diaccia Botrona reserve and celebrations for the Day of the Etruscans at the Vetulonia Archaeological Museum.
