Castiglione della Pescaia launches summer Palio Marinaro festivities

The town of Castiglione della Pescaia opened its summer season with a series of events surrounding the 70th edition of the senior Palio Marinaro rowing competition. New five colourful racing lances built by Gruppo Mare 2.0 of Foggia were presented, and drapes honoring local figures, including a tribute to former racing driver Alex Zanardi, were unveiled.

A photographic exhibition of more than 80 historic images will run from 17 July to 23 August, and a schedule of races for youths, women and veterans will run through September, culminating with the 70th Palio dell’Assunta on 23 August and the veterans’ race on 13 September.
