Castiglione della Pescaia residents oppose 26‑hectare agrivoltaic project

A door‑to‑door signature campaign has been launched in Castiglione della Pescaia, Grosseto, to halt the construction of a large agrivoltaic installation on the Pian di Rocca area. The initiative is led by the local civic list “Alternativa,” which says the 26‑hectare site is of high landscape, ecological and historical value and is crucial for the town’s agricultural and tourism economy. Residents, farmers and business operators warn that covering the fertile land with photovoltaic panels would permanently alter the identity of the countryside.

The group plans to present a formal petition to the municipal council, requesting a clear municipal land‑use plan and a pause in the authorisation process until such a plan is adopted. They emphasise support for renewable energy but demand that any project be integrated with the existing landscape rather than imposed on it.
