Castilla-La Mancha allocates €2 million to combat rabbit crop damage
The Government of Castilla-La Mancha has announced a two-million-euro fund to assist farmers facing crop damage caused by an overabundance of wild rabbits. The initiative, managed by the Ministry of Sustainable Development, aims to protect the economic viability of agricultural holdings in municipalities declared under temporary hunting emergencies.
Eligible preventive measures include the installation of perimeter fencing with rabbit mesh, the use of individual protectors for woody plants, and the removal of rabbit burrows. The program will subsidize up to 70 percent of eligible costs, with a maximum investment of 14,500 euros per application. To assist farmers, the government will provide an advance payment of 50 percent of the granted aid.
