Castilla-La Mancha begins process to protect healthcare professional careers

The Government of Castilla-La Mancha has initiated the process to approve a draft law aimed at reactivating and protecting the professional careers of statutory personnel within the regional health service (Sescam). Regional President Emiliano García-Page announced that the legislative process began this Wednesday, with the goal of having the law approved by the regional courts before the end of the year.

García-Page stated that the measure was a commitment made in agreement with labor unions. He emphasized that Castilla-La Mancha aims to be the only autonomous community in Spain to have these professional career protections established by law. The initiative is intended to improve working conditions and provide formal recognition to healthcare professionals.

The President highlighted that while the region has expanded its medical services, infrastructure, and technology, human capital remains the essential component. He noted that providing quality working conditions helps the region retain medical students and successfully fill public employment vacancies, avoiding the staffing shortages seen in other parts of the country.
