Castilla-La Mancha boosts regional culture with Toledo civic tour and Alto Tajo log‑floating festival
In Herencia, around 50 residents took part in a cultural excursion to Toledo organized by the Centre of the Woman under the Cortes Abiertas programme. Participants visited the regional Parliament of Castilla‑La Mancha and the historic Palacio de Fuensalida, meeting the mayor Sergio García‑Navas and equality councilor Aitor Gallego, to learn about the autonomous institutions and strengthen community ties.
Separately, the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla‑La Mancha presented the 30th edition of the Fiesta Ganchera del Alto Tajo in Madrid’s Gran Vía. Delegates highlighted the three‑decade tradition of log‑floating on the Tagus River, with the upcoming celebration scheduled for 28‑29 August in Poveda de la Sierra. The festival, recognised as a regional tourism attraction and UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, will feature traditional processions, log descents, popular meals and folk performances.
