Castilla-La Mancha faces rising poverty and political disputes

Political tensions are rising in Castilla-La Mancha regarding economic conditions and regional governance. According to a report from the European Network Against Poverty (EAPN), 34% of residents in the region are at risk of poverty or social exclusion, a figure notably higher than the Spanish national average of 25.7%.

In response to these socio-economic challenges, the PSOE has initiated a proposal to withdraw the region's Statute of Autonomy. Ana Isabel Abengózar, spokesperson for the socialist group, characterized this move as a consequence of Paco Núñez's alleged pacts with national leadership in Madrid, specifically citing concerns over water rights and the potential for the region to become a primary water provider for Levante and Murcia without adequate protection.

Paco Núñez, representing the PP, has countered by advocating for different economic strategies, including tax reductions, decreased bureaucracy, and increased support for the self-employed to stimulate investment and employment in the region.
