Castilla-La Mancha farmers demand protected PAC funding and new aid

The agricultural organization ASAJA Castilla-La Mancha is demanding that the future Common Agricultural Policy (PAC) maintain distinct pillars of funding. The group argues that direct aid intended for farmers and ranchers should not be diverted to finance rural development policies, asserting that these resources are essential for maintaining economic activity and preventing rural depopulation.

In a separate development, the regional government of Castilla-La Mancha has announced it will allocate 8.8 million euros from the European Union's agricultural reserve. This funding, provided via the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, is intended to help the sector manage rising costs for fuel and fertilizers.

A significant portion of these funds will target approximately 1,000 young farmers in the region who were excluded from previous state aid programs regarding fertilizer expenses. The regional administration also plans to extend fuel cost support to the beekeeping sector.
