Castilla-La Mancha farmers threaten protests against regional government

Farmers in Castilla-La Mancha, represented by the organization ASAJA, are threatening street protests and legal action against the regional government led by Emiliano García-Page. The group describes the current situation in the agricultural sector as “unbearable.”

Key grievances include rising production costs, lack of water, increasing bureaucracy, and animal health difficulties. ASAJA also criticizes conservationist policies that impose restrictions on farming activities, such as regulations during high fire risk periods that prevented work during peak daylight hours, leading to significant losses in Cuenca and Guadalajara.

Additionally, the organization is seeking compensation for damages caused by summer wildfires and is demanding retroactive aid to combat crop damage caused by overpopulated rabbit colonies.
