Castilla-La Mancha Government Teams with Notaries on Small Municipality Statute
The regional government of Castilla‑La Mancha held a meeting in Tomelloso between Vice‑Consejero of Strategic Planning José Antonio Carrillo and the dean of the Notarial College, Luis Mayorga Alcázar. The two sides agreed that the College of Notaries will contribute expertise to the drafting of the forthcoming Statute of the Small Municipality, a law aimed at supporting rural towns facing depopulation.
The statute follows a public consultation that gathered more than one hundred proposals from citizens and organisations. It will address municipal governance, a specific urban‑planning regime, promotion of rural housing, rehabilitation of historic town centres, simplification of administrative procedures and better access to services. Notarial input is expected to help resolve legal obstacles such as unregistered land parcels and pending inheritance issues that hinder housing availability in small municipalities.
