Castilla-La Mancha increases handball funding to over 700,000 euros
The Government of Castilla-La Mancha has announced it will increase its financial support for handball to over 700,000 euros for the upcoming season. The announcement was made by Second Vice President José Manuel Caballero during the Spartan Handball Cup in Pozuelo de Calatrava.
The investment will cover support for clubs, the regional handball federation, and collaboration with teams competing in top-tier national and international categories. Caballero noted that the region has invested more than 4.5 million euros in male and female handball clubs in recent years.
According to regional officials, the sport has seen significant growth, with the number of licenses increasing by more than 56 percent since 2016 and the overall practice of the discipline doubling over the last decade. The funding aims to promote large sporting events and high-profile matches to further encourage participation and fan engagement.
