Castilla-La Mancha launches cancer prevention plan and humanitarian aid
The Government of Castilla-La Mancha has launched a public participation process for the new Regional Cancer Plan 2026-2030. The draft strategy aims to improve prevention, early diagnosis, and the quality of life for patients through technological advancements, including artificial intelligence, precision oncology, and immunotherapy. Citizens and organizations have a 20-day window to submit observations via the Official Gazette and the Participation Portal.
In separate healthcare developments, the Almansa General Hospital has reached a 98% staffing coverage rate. Recent additions include specialists in areas such as dermatology, urology, and mental health, which the regional health service notes helps resolve more medical needs locally and reduces the need for patient travel.
Additionally, the regional government is funding 22 humanitarian projects across 11 countries in Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America. With a total investment of over 502,000 euros, these projects—some in collaboration with the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID)—will address food security, healthcare, and refugee protection in nations including Palestine, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Colombia.
