Castilla-La Mancha landmarks highlight Spanish history and literature

The historical regions of Castilla-La Mancha and Madrid offer diverse cultural and architectural landmarks. In Fuentidueña de Tajo, the 12th-century Castillo de Santiago stands as a significant historical site from the Reconquista, once serving as a prison for Pedro I of Castile. The area also features an iron bridge constructed by the school of Gustave Eiffel in the late 19th century.

In the Alcarria region, the town of Torija is noted for its well-preserved 15th-century limestone castle. The fortress houses various tourism and heritage facilities, including a unique museum dedicated to Camilo José Cela’s book, ‘Viaje a la Alcarria’. This museum contains personal items and various editions of the work that inspired the Nobel laureate.

Both locations highlight the intersection of medieval history, industrial engineering, and literary heritage within the Spanish landscape.
