Castilla-La Mancha PP chief Paco Núñez under fire from PSOE over candidacy plans
Socialist leaders in Castilla‑La Mancha accuse regional PP president Paco Núñez of “selling the soul of Castilla‑La Mancha” to secure the party’s candidacy. Ana Isabel Abengózar and Ángel Tomás Godoy say Núñez is aligning with national PP figures – party leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo and secretary‑general Miguel Tellado – and that the summer will be spent “praying to San Tellado” for approval. They cite past decisions on water policy, the regional Statute and public‑service financing as evidence that Núñez is prioritising national party directives over regional interests. The PSOE also called for the upcoming Fiscal and Financial Council to follow agreements among socialist autonomous communities and to respect the 41st PSOE Congress outcomes.
The criticism highlights internal tension within the PP over candidate selection ahead of the 2027 regional elections, while the socialists tout their own fire‑prevention resources and a “Page formula” of dialogue to lower taxes and keep unemployment low.
