Castilla-La Mancha PSOE urges García-Page to confirm reelection bid

The PSOE of Castilla-La Mancha held its Regional Committee in Toledo, where members expressed strong support for President Emiliano García-Page. While the party is eager for him to announce his candidacy for a fourth term, García-Page has yet to confirm his intentions. This internal pressure comes amid perceived tensions with Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and the federal leadership in Madrid, with regional leaders fearing the potential promotion of an alternative candidate.

During the meeting, the regional PSOE also addressed critical issues such as regional financing and housing. Cristina Maestre, the regional vice-secretary general, defended the party’s stance on seeking a fairer financing model for the region and emphasized the need for improved access to housing.

Simultaneously, political friction has intensified with the opposition. The Partido Popular (PP) has accused the regional government of ambiguity regarding its position on autonomous financing. Furthermore, the PP has categorically denied that any advanced negotiations are taking place regarding the new Housing and Urbanism Law, dismissing government claims of progress as political manipulation.
