Castilla-La Mancha promotes active aging and physical health

The regional government of Castilla-La Mancha is implementing various initiatives to promote physical activity and healthy aging across the region.

In Cuenca, approximately 250 seniors participated in a hiking route in Villares del Saz. This activity is part of a series of six planned autumn routes designed to encourage active aging, prevent loneliness, and stimulate the local economy through increased activity in hospitality and commerce. The program aims to reach roughly 1,500 participants through local senior centers and associations.

Additionally, the '7,000 pasosX' program held a walk in Valdepeñas, Ciudad Real, to combat sedentary lifestyles, obesity, and smoking. Launched in 2022 as part of the 'Horizonte 2025' Health Plan, the initiative encourages citizens of all ages to complete accessible walks of 7,000 steps daily. Health officials noted that Castilla-La Mancha currently holds the highest life expectancy for those over 65, emphasizing the importance of proactive health habits.
