Castilla-La Mancha receives agricultural funds for energy efficiency and farming support

The Castilla-La Mancha region is implementing new energy efficiency measures and receiving significant agricultural funding. In Cieza, the Ascoy, Benís, and Carrasquilla irrigation community has completed a project to save 3,244 megawatt-hours annually. This initiative includes a new 177,177 cubic meter reservoir, a 1.1 megawatt solar plant with 1,764 panels, and more efficient pumping equipment. The total investment for this project is 2.16 million euros, with 850,000 euros provided by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).

Separately, the Spanish central government has distributed 69.2 million euros in agricultural funds across various autonomous communities. Castilla-La Mancha has been allocated 10.5 million euros, consisting of 8.9 million euros for fertilizers and 1.5 million euros for animal health. These funds, sourced from the European agricultural reserve, aim to mitigate the rising costs of fertilizers and energy. The regional government has the flexibility to direct these funds to specific sectors and beneficiaries to address local needs.
