Castilla-La Mancha unions raise concerns over teacher assignments and school climate control

Labor unions in Castilla-La Mancha are raising concerns regarding working conditions and administrative processes as the new school year begins.

The CSIF union has denounced the short notice given to over 2,200 interim teachers, who will only learn their assignments 48 hours before they are required to start. The union argues this timeframe is “inadmissible,” making it difficult for educators to arrange travel, housing, and family logistics. CSIF also noted high levels of job precariousness, reporting that regional public education temporality stands at 30.8%.

Separately, the STE-CLM union reports that more than 90% of educational centers in the region lack full climate control. This follows a Labor Inspection report prompted by a complaint against the regional government regarding high temperatures in classrooms. The union is calling for an energy rehabilitation plan to install efficient cooling systems and the establishment of protocols for when temperatures exceed health and safety recommendations.
