Castilla-La Mancha to fund 45 archaeological and paleontological projects
The Government of Castilla-La Mancha has announced the funding of 45 projects dedicated to the research of archaeological and paleontological heritage across the region. The initiative involves an investment of approximately 450,000 euros.
The projects are distributed across several provinces: 10 in Albacete, seven in Ciudad Real, nine in Cuenca, nine in Guadalajara, and nine in Toledo, with one project spanning multiple locations. Amador Pastor, the Regional Minister of Education, Culture, and Sports, stated that these grants aim to advance the study of the past while ensuring the protection of collective identity and supporting the work of universities and research teams.
In Guadalajara, one notable project led by the National Center for Research on Human Evolution (CENIEH) will focus on the Paleolithic and Holocene periods within the Tamajón karst system. This research aims to reconstruct human occupation in the peninsular interior using advanced dating techniques and paleoecological studies to understand how early populations adapted to environmental changes.
